After relaxing/swimming and enjoying some drinks in some of the most pristine landscapes I've ever we had to make our way back to the ship, but not before stopping at Taco Loco for some tasty tacos.Įxcellent day trip on the water to discover Bacalar lagoon with my family of 3. Upon arriving at the marina we quickly boarded our pontoon boat and were off to explore the GORGEOUS lagoons of Bacalar. Along the way, Genesis delivered exemplary cultural knowledge and even stopped to provide us with some locally grown pineapple, which was delicious. Once back from the lighthouse the rest of our group arrived and we were off for the hour drive to Bacalar. After an extended wait, he suggested we visit the nearby lighthouse, which was great, as this was a spot we also wanted to see. We also let him know we were in the process of learning Spanish so we did some practicing with him while waiting. While waiting for other members of the tour group Genesis offered us snacks, cervesas, and general knowledge about the area. My wife and I recently took part in this tour while visiting Costa Maya while cruising on the Norwegian Breakaway and we had a blast! Our guide, Genesis, and driver, Moises both made the day a memorable one for us. We were also emailed some very nice photographs of us on our tour. (I even got one of those coughs that wouldn't go away, and he gave me a cough drop, then he stopped and got some local honey and limes and mixed up a local cough remedy and got that under control in short order!) The lagoon was beautiful, the food was good, a generous choice of beverages was provided, the information provided along the way was interesting, and careful attention was paid to ensure that we were back to the ship in plenty of time. Tino took great care of us the whole day. There were some last minute rearrangements due to one or two ships having canceled this port, so everyone that did make it was put on a single tour. Tino, who ended up being our group's guide for the day, had contacted us a day beforehand on the cruise to let us know where to meet them. We saw the overwhelmingly positive reviews for this tour and decided this would be a good way to spend our port day in Costa Maya. *Lunch, Drinks, and local snacks where provided.Ĭhacek Company provided top-notch service, attention to detail, and an experience that left a lasting impression The water was crystal clear, looked like a post card.Ģnd Stop was the Chacchoben Ruins- These ancient Mayan ruins were truly awe-inspiring Our first stop was the Bacalar lagoon- W got to see a Cenote and enjoyed a dip in the lagoon.
